Rhys Rodriguez is entering her first year of high school as well as her first year of journalism. She was born in Okwanawa, Japan, on June 5th, 2011, and moved to Texas the summer before first grade. She is a clarinet player in the wind ensemble band as well as in the marching band. During her time at Fairview Junior High, she was a co-organizer for the Uganda Kiss a Pig fundraiser and the secretary for NJHS. When not at school, she enjoys reading, playing music, and writing various forms of poetry at home. Her passion for music began as a 3 year old in the Angels Choir at her grandmother’s church. This year, she has read a total of 25 books and has written 15 poems. When she graduates from high school, she plans to attend the University of Houston as a major in psychology and minor in music, after which she hopes to become a therapist or a forensic psychologist.
