Eli Garza is the 2nd year percussion director at Alvin High School. He played soccer and tenor drums in HS and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University. During his senior year, a soccer injury prevented him from playing in college. At the same time, he was giving lessons to underclassmen which led him to pursue a career as a percussion director. His favorite non-percussion instrument is the cello, and during his free time you can find him golfing, watching football, or playing with his dog. His favorite HS memory was during his freshman year, when Clearbrook HS won silver medals at Winter Guard International (WGI) Finals. “Knowing all the long hours and late rehearsals was worth it in the end made me fall in love with drumming,” Garza said. Eli Garza is looking forward to another year with the Alvin HS Band.
