Sherina O’Neal is an ELA junior teacher and became one after her 12th grade English teacher inspired her. She really admired her old teacher for the way she treated her students as if they were adults and the way she talked and dressed.
“One day I want to be just like her,” O’Neal said.
After 10 years of college, she made up her mind that she wanted to be a teacher and she knew exactly what kind she was going to be. She wanted to be an English teacher just like her old teacher Mrs. Chavez.
Mrs. O’Neal really enjoys working as an English teacher in the AHS district. Before she worked in AHS, she worked in another district that paid less. Her coworkers are really supportive to her and she really loves working at AHS. Mrs.O’Neal is planning on retiring in 6-8 years. After she retires she wants to start cruising and traveling and plans on taking a 30 day cruise.
Outside of school she enjoys traveling with her husband and, at the moment, she is planning her next cruise trip. She also travels to see her daughters that live in Sam Houston. One of her daughters is about to become a teacher for the first time and will follow in her mother’s footsteps.
