Alvin High School, a campus that has been built upon as the city grew, has a large variety of teachers and subjects. One new face on the campus is digital arts teacher Stephanie Martinez, who joined AHS in August.
“I teach digital art because I like to see students’ progression and ideas unwind,” Martinez said. “When I was offered to teach fine arts and help find arts students, I took it and ended up really enjoying it.”
Martinez often envisioned herself as an educator in her younger years.
“I did see myself as a teacher when I was younger, but I didn’t think it would be high school. I had thought it would be elementary school. I want to give students good and fun memories and something they’re proud of. I want students to surprise themselves with their own work.”
Martinez works to keep her classroom environment enjoyable and appealing to students.
“I try to keep a friendly and homey environment and be approachable,” she said. “I want the students to remember the class and their teacher and friends. I wish to, again, offer them good memories and not be easily forgettable.”
