Jeremy Kitchens is ready to start off his first year as the high school’s head band director
Kitchens was a band director at Fairview Junior High years prior. Most of the kids see him as a good director with his tough spirit. His junior high bands have won many awards from a district to a national level.
“Being a head high school band director has been my plan for a long time, and getting to do so in the community I’ve taught in for 8 years was a no brainer!,” Kitchens said.
After teaching junior high for so long Kitchens is looking forward to the opportunities high school has to offer.
“My first two years out of high school, I didn’t continue doing band. I swapped to music after realizing how much I missed it.”
After participating in band throughout high school, Kitchens was unsure that he wanted to continue further but changed his mind and decided to pursue music education.
“I’m excited for our first marching contest because I can’t wait for the kids to show off all their hard work.”
When asked what word describes Kitchens he said “stubborn.”
